[Postcards From The South]

In an effort to learn a little bit more about this world and our place within it, we have decided to embark on a year-long journey through Central and South America beginning in March of 2008. This is a personal account of our experiences and observations as we explore the depths of this continent, and ourselves. Enjoy!

This trip is starting to feel real...

Jonathan:
It is now just over 3 months before we embark on what promises to be the adventure of a lifetime. We have been planning this trip for so long, I think we have gotten used to the idea of its being just a plan... a distant plan. Now that it's almost upon us, it feels strange to have a checklist of things to do before we leave— before we leave our jobs, our friends, our home, our lives as we know them. What can we really do to prepare for that kind of a departure? We've been working hard on our Spanish, and our equipment lists are becoming more solid and refined each day, but somehow we both find ourselves wondering if we are really going to be ready. The anticipation is intense. We can hardly wait.
